Local emergency services personnel form an important part of any community. We are here to protect and help you whenever we are needed, and we can get help to you in a very short period of time. Firefighters in particular do a whole range of jobs, varying from fighting fires to helping at all sorts of incidents, emergency and non-emergency. We might be called to natural disasters, a medical emergency, road or highway accidents or a chemical spill. When an emergency happens, firefighters respond to the station and take the trucks to the scene of an emergency.
The City of Fenton Fire Department is made up of paid-on-call volunteers who are residents of our local community. Many of us are your neighbors, co-workers or friends. Fenton's firefighters do not live at the fire station, nor do they spend all day working a shift at the station. We are a group of men and women who do everyday jobs, but are ready to go at the moment that a call comes in. We might be builders, lawn mowers, farmers, business owners, plumbers, stay-at-home moms or dads, shop workers or service technicians. But when the call comes, we become part of a dedicated team ready to face any emergency. We may be "paid-on-call volunteers", but we are trained and capable people on the front line of saving lives and property.
There is currently a shortage of daytime personnel - of people who will turn out and help in an emergency from approximately 8 am to 5 pm. This is particularly true in small towns and rural areas because nowadays there are fewer people who live and work in their own local community. You might be just the person to fill in this gap. Wouldn't you like to be able to help your friends and neighbors in a very real and practical way? You would get paid for doing it, too! Firefighters come in all shapes and sizes and from various backgrounds - although it's a tough job, so you need to be fit and healthy to perform certain tasks. So, what do you have to do to join these "ordinary" people? If you are interested, review the requirements and fill out a job application.
