City of Fenton Thanks Fenton Glass Service for Help in Early Pandemic

Brian Petty of Fenton Glass Service.

At Monday’s Fenton City Council meeting, mayor Sue Osborn presented a plaque of appreciation to Brian Petty, the owner of Fenton Glass Service, for the shop’s efforts during the pandemic to keep employees and City Hall visitors safe.

“You really helped us out and we appreciate you so much,” Osborn said during a brief presentation.

City Manager Lynn Markland offered some details, including that glass shops were slammed with requests for help early in the pandemic.

“We knew we would need protective shielding for our employees and customers,” he said. “Fenton Glass came in and I just want to thank you for making time for us. We really appreciate what you did for us in such a timely manner.”

Markland said in particular short supply were the baffles that allow people to speak through glass but still be heard. He said somehow, Petty was able to acquire the number the city needed.

Petty, who has had the glass shop since 1975, said he and his staff had a sense of duty to help where they could.

“It was a very stressful time for a lot of businesses and their employees,” he said. “Our employees were glad they could help. So I thank you for this honor and look forward to sharing this with them.”
