Deadline Approaching for Petitions

nominating petition for mayor

THE DEADLINE TO SUBMIT COMPLETED PETITIONS FOR

THE OFFICE OF MAYOR OR CITY COUNCIL

IN THE CITY OF FENTON IS:

TUESDAY, JULY 25, 2023 AT 4:00 PM.

PETITIONS ARE DELIVERABLE TO THE CITY CLERK’S OFFICE AT:

301 S. LEROY STREET, FENTON, MICHIGAN 48430

The following is required of those seeking consideration on the November 7, 2023 General Election ballot:

  • Must be 18 years old and registered voter in the City for at least one year immediately prior to the last day for filing original petitions.
  • Submit a completed, notarized, Affidavit of Identity.
  • Submit nominating petitions signed by not less than 50, and no more than 100 registered electors of the City.  Because some signatures can be rendered invalid, it is recommended to get more than the minimum number of signatures required to avoid complications.

It is recommended to read the back of both the Affidavit of Identity and Nominating Petition forms for instructions on how to properly complete both forms.  An incomplete/incorrect petition sheet can cause the signatures on that sheet to be deemed invalid and will not count toward the number of signatures needed to be placed on the ballot.

Please submit completed information to the City Clerk’s office by the date and time as indicated above.

Questions? Feel free to contact the Clerk’s Office Monday–Thursday 8:30AM–5:00PM or Friday 8:30AM–12:00PM at the address listed above or by telephone at 810-629-2261.
